Coming from Hogsmeade Station, you come upon the the magnificent wrought iron Entrance Gates which are flanked by two columns topped with statues of winged boars. The gates are open, it is the first day of term. Carriages wait to take students up to the castle.
A flat area covered in short-cut grass and is located near the Herbology greenhouses; it is where Professor Sky Aurwing gives the first year students Flying lessons.
A cloister on the base of the Clock Tower at the school. This cloister seems to be one of the older parts of the castle and the ceiling and walls are dilapidated. It also leads to the Wooden Bridge.
The entrance to the Quidditch Pitch. It is flanked by two stone structures resembling two of the spectator towers. Inside, several trophies and shields are housed.
A large body of water located to the south of the castle. It is about half a mile in diameter and the castle's plumbing drains into it. It is home to a giant squid and a colony of Merpeople.
The forest borders the edges of the school grounds. It is strictly off limits to the students - except in the case of detention, or Care of Magical Creatures lessons that occasionally take place there. It is home to creatures such as centaurs, Thestrals, unicorns, Hippogriffs, and Acromantula.
